Applications and Software -Telepresence

Telepresence is an application available on Android, iOS, Vuzix Blade, and PC for telecommunications. As such, the application will expressly ask for permissions on your device. The following permissions are optional but required for certain features. No permission is used in any way other or area than as described.

Audio recording permissions are required for capturing voice and sound on one end of the call and transmitting it over a secure network to other call participants.

Video recording permissions are required for capturing images and video on one end of the call and transmitting it over a secure network to other call participants.

Telepresence is a peer-to-peer (P2P) service. We do not rely on a centralized server. The number of devices that can be concurrently in the same call is dependent on the network bandwidth of the streamer and its peers.

Telepresence Privacy Policy

We take privacy very seriously. Calls are never monitored. Only the public IP is used to connect call participants through a centralized server. Certain features like intelligent video resolution, file sharing, and some analytics may require additional data which will only be enabled with client expressed written permission.

This application generates video and audio data. The data is streamed, and it exists temporarily in the network, and on the presenter and participant’s devices. The data is not stored in any format after it has been consumed by the application. Any additional recordings (such as audio captures, screen captures and video captures) from the streamed data performed by the user is the responsibility of the user and their data handling policies and guidelines. The following paragraph is provided for coverage.

Some of our software services make use of aggregate data. This data is collected and used as an aggregate and does not identify individuals unless the customer requires it as a software feature. Aggregated data is mostly used to provide evaluation, operation, or training metrics and analytics, and in some cases artificial intelligence training sets. Any specifics for enterprise licensing data collection will be expressly written in the software licensing agreement provided upon closure of the contract.

Software Updates and Support

Software updates related to the core functionality of the system will be provided remotely throughout the duration of the software license. Core functionality includes graphics improvements, software version and driver updates, mechanics (i.e. interaction, controls, multi-media players) and performance optimizations. Software updates regarding additional content (i.e. new features and functionality) are covered under the specific license type and agreement or future addendums. 

All automated or forced application updates, unless noted otherwise, will adhere to the same privacy policy.
